There are approximately 3 million people in Australia providing unpaid carer support to a loved one. The caring role is 24-7, and can be stressful and tiring. Carers often experience burnout, and their social or professional lives may be compromised by the demands of the role. Carers need caring for, too.
Valley Carers is a support group for unpaid carers of family members with a disability, chronic illness or ageing. We are based in Moonee Valley, Victoria. We are a not-for-profit peer support group, run by local community members who have lived experience of the caring role. We have no paid staff, and very grateful to our volunteers for keeping the group running.
Valley Carers offers regular social activities to bring a little sparkle to the carers' day. We organise different types of events at different times and days, to cater for different needs. We rely on fundraising, donations and community grants to deliver the programs at low cost. We ask for a small contribution for each event (non-refundable/non-transferable).
We are deeply grateful to the City of Moonee Valley for their continued support of our program. We would not be able to provide the range of activities without their support. We sincerely thank the City of Moonee Valley for their generosity, kindness, and respect for our local carers.
We are also grateful to Carers Victoria for their support, especially during National Carers Week. And we acknowledge the kindness and generosity of Grill'd.
